President welcomes opening of Jewish center

Receiving a delegation led by Henry Pozner, head of the international Railway Development Corporation (RDC), on Wednesday, President Aliyev gave a high assessment to the opening of the "Joint" Jewish Center in Baku and termed this as an important event in Azerbaijan's social life.
Aliyev said he was confident that the center, which is to promote the participation of Jewish community members in Azerbaijan's society and coordinate their relations, will play an important role for the lives of Jews and other peoples living in Azerbaijan. The President noted that national and religious tolerance is one of Azerbaijan's most important achievements over the recent years and added that Jews are active in all facets of the country's social life.
Pozner, in turn, said that Jews had historically played an active role in the social processes unfolding in Azerbaijan. He underlined that the newly-established center will further promote this
