                  President of the European Jewish Congress (EJC) Pierre Besnainou, Chairman of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) Policy Council Israel Singer and leaders of the Romanian Jewish community, met today with Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu, Foreign Minister Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu and senior staff members of President Traian Basescu in Bucharest.
                  EJC President Besnainou raised current issues of international concern, including the situation in Middle East and the threat posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions.
                  Israel Singer raised the matter of restitution of Jewish property seized during and after World War II. Also discussed were the protection of Jewish sites in Romania and ways to implement President Bascescu's commitment to fighting anti- Semitism and Holocaust denial in Romania.
                  The delegation also discussed support for a follow-up conference of the 2004 OSCE conference on fighting anti-Semitism in Berlin.
