Russian Airline to Cancel Flights to Tel Aviv because of War in Gaza
16.01.2009
Russian air carrier "Ural Airlines" will temporarily abandon the flights to Israel because of the military conflict in Gaza. This was reported by Russian news agencies, citing the statement of the company itself.
It is unclear when the flights will be suspended - the media mention two dates, January 14 and 21. The flight schedule on the company's website does not include cities "beginning with Tel Aviv."
However, it states that "Ural Airlines will stop flying to Israel until mid-March 2009." The company was the first Russian carrier which has announced the termination of flights since the start of the operation in Gaza.
We shall add that "Ural Airlines" is the only airline company of Ural region, flying from Yekaterinburg to Tel Aviv. Overall passengers traffic in 2007 exceeded 1.2 million.
