OSCE names top AJC man to anti-Semitism post

WASHINGTON (JTA) - The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe named an American Jewish Committee official to its top anti-Semitism post.
On Thursday, AJAC announced that the OSCE had named Rabbi Andrew Baker to be OSCE's Personal Representative for Combating Anti-Semitism.
The 55-member coordinating body, which includes the United States, has led the effort to educate against anti-Jewish bias in Europe for the last five years.
AJC quoted Dora Bakoyannis, the Greek foreign minister and the current OSCE chairwoman, as citing Baker's "wide experience and valuable expertise in the area of combating anti-Semitism."
Baker has led AJC's relations with OSCE in his capacity as its director of international affairs.
Baker, who succeeds German lawmaker Gert Weisskirchen in the job, will be one of three OSCE "personal representatives;" another handles anti-Muslim bias, and another deals with other minorities.
