Rally in support of Israel in Chisinau

A rally in support of the State of Israel was held in Chisinau, near the monument to victims of Chisinau ghetto on Jerusalem street. The rally was initiated1 by the Jewish Congress of the Republic of Moldova and the local Jewish2 community.
"The rally's purpose is to support the State of Israel in these difficult times, to express solidarity with the defensive operation in Gaza," said the Head of the Unified Board of Moldova Jewish Congress and the Association of Jewish Communities and Organizations of the Republic of Moldova Roman Aronov when beginning the meeting.
First Secretary of Israeli Embassy in Moldova Stav Nezhynsky thanked the participants for their support of Israel.
The meeting was attended by youth, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, former prisoners of ghettos and concentration camps, community leaders, and public representatives.
The Chief Rabbi of Chisinau and Moldova Zalman Abelsky, representatives of the Darkon Association of Israeli businessmen in the Republic of Moldova, Head of the Jewish community of Bieltsy Lev Bondar, Head of the Dzhuur community of Mountain6, Georgian and Bukhara Jews in Moldova Shabatay Khanukaev and others also made speeches at the meeting.
The participants adopted a declaration of solidarity with the State of Israel, which says in particular:
"We, the representatives of the Jewish community in the Republic of Moldova, who recognize the right of any state to defend and protect itself against terrorist organizations and violent threats, feel our involvement in the fate of the Jewish state and its people, and define terrorism as a crime against personality and humankind, adopt this declaration to express our solidarity with the State of Israel during the operation on elimination of the structure of the Hamas armed radical Islamic movement.
The reaction of Israel was a fair response to ongoing rocket attacks and shelling of the Jewish state by Hamas, which have continued for about 8 years.
During this period, Israel has been bombed with over 3 000 rockets. We also share the position of those Jewish communities of the world which have expressed their concern about the conflict and recognized the natural right of Israel to defend itself and protect its citizens from deadly threats.
We believe that the Government of Israel and the IDF will successfully achieve its objectives, and our brothers in the State of Israel will be able to live peacefully and safely."
Participants of the meeting observed a minute's silence in memory of Israeli soldiers killed during operations in the Gaza Strip.
