                  Jewish Autonomy Turns 75

                  16.01.2009

                  Jewish Autonomy Turns 75

The days of celebration of the Jewish Autonomous Region's 75th anniversary, to be held in September this year, will start with the Tenth Folk Festival of Jewish Art. The plan of the celebration was approved of on January 14 at the meeting of the JAR government.
The festival, planned as a five-day event, will become the main event of the anniversary celebrations. Artists and artistic groups from the USA, Israel, Moldova, Germany, as well as from Moscow and St. Petersburg are invited.
The festivities will require many expenses: more than four million rubles will come from the regional budget, and approximately one and a half from the federal.
Negotiations are in progress with a number of businessmen in the autonomy, who have been generous in funding the Festivals of Jewish art that have always been a major staple in more than the cultural life of the Region.
