Visa-Free Regime: Just a Little Bit to Wait

Dates of establishment of a visa-free regime with Israel for citizens of Moldova are partly dependent on the analysis of similar relationship experience with Russia, said Israeli Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Abraham Sheron. It has been two years since the Israeli Foreign Ministry offered to cancel travel, work and other visas for Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova. The appropriate rationale and documents have been sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Israel, but it turned out that some more time is needed.
"Our intentions regarding the abolition of visas for citizens of Moldova and a number of the CIS countries have not changed. But in anticipation of this, the Government would review the experience of visa-free regime for Russian citizens which have been in action for three months already," stressed the diplomat.
He said the decision will be made soon on opening an Israeli Embassy in Chisinau, which has not yet been carried out "for financial reasons" (its functions are performed by a consulate).
