Israel, Hamas: Schalit talks not dead

Israeli and Hamas officials said Sunday that efforts to seal an agreement that would bring about the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit are not dead.
A spokesman for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that attempts to free Schalit had not stopped despite strong signals from the premier that no deal was likely during his last days in office.
Mark Regev said Israel was still trying to strike a deal on a prisoner swap with Hamas, but provided no further details.
Olmert is set to leave office within two weeks, and after a recent round of talks failed, he indicated he was turning the matter over to his successor, Binyamin Netanyahu.
