The Ministry of Internal Affairs Doubts Visa-free Regime with Russia

The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a briefing on April 1 for the Russian-speaking Israeli press about the change of leadership in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This included the policy of the Ministry in the coming period.
Answering to the question of the First Radio correspondent Lev Melamid about the possible abolition of the visa regime with the United States, which was repeatedly hinted by the ex-Minister Meir Shitreet, he explained: "Israel and the United States are close to solving this issue. Washington officials understood the issue of abolishing the visa regime with Israel, while the Jewish State is considered one of the closest U.S. allies."
However, as the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained, the U.S. leadership subordinates the abolition of visa regime with the abolition of a similar agreement between Israel and Russia, which came into force last year. The high-rank official of the Ministry refused to go into detail about this dependence.
