Kazakhstan Accuses Israel of Supplying Unfinished Weapons Systems

Press Service of the Committee for National Defense of Kazakhstan, commenting on the arrest of Deputy Minister of Defense Kazhimurat Maermanov, reported that his actions had caused harm to the state treasury in the sum of 82 million dollars.
According to the head of the press service Kenzhebulat Beknazarov, the weapons systems supplied by Israel, in the acquisition of which Maermanov was involved, are still under development, and four of the six 120-millimeter self-mortar "Aibat" failed after several test volleys.
Apparently, we are talking about tests that were conducted late last year, because there has been no criticism of the Israeli arms by Kazakh military during the tests conducted on April 4.
It was also reported earlier that the "Nayza" rocket missile launcher presents a threat to the crew during the shooting.
Press Service of the Ministry of Defense reported that Maermanov had been suspended from the office until the end of investigation, and that legal review of contracts with Israeli companies has disclosed violations from both Israeli and Kazakh sides.
As the "Ma'ariv" newspaper reported today, retainers of the Israeli citizen Boris Sheinkman, who was representing the interests of Israeli defense companies in Kazakhstan and was arrested in Alma-Aty in March this year, believe the scandal surrounding the supply of Israeli weapons to Kazakhstan to have been contrived by Russia that wants to drive competitors out of the zone of its influence.
