A solo concert by Boris Zilberbord provoked the great interest.

A solo concert by Boris Zilberbord, held in Hased-Rahel (Yaroslavl) provoked the great interest in audience for the performer, the choir soloist known to everyone.
Boris started composing Jewish songs of diverse content a long time ago. The special attention was given to family and home songs about relatives, friends, life, the joy and sorrow in life. A special confidence and intimacy of communicating are perceived in "My Friends and I at the Table" and "Dear Granddaughter". The audience liked songs for singing and dancing a ring, like "Dancing in a Ring", "Laugh to Your Health", "I am Singing You These Songs".
There were presented patriotic songs, like "I am a Jew"," Playing the Violin", "Israel is the home of Jews". God was addressed all the time, His mercy was prayed for constantly.
It is important that the author has found individually expressive intonations for many of his songs. For instance, in the doctor's pieces of advice (B.Zilberbord is a prominent and experienced surgeon), the audience could hear cheerfully didactic forms of address and find kind and valuable pieces of advice, the main of which are to be optimistic under any circumstances and to hope for the best.
Improvisation was unchangeably omnipresent, for it is very typical of Jewish songs, which are being constantly updated. The improvisation resulted in freedom, in the risk in performance, in often change of tempo, even of meter (which sometimes resulted in discrepancy with the accompaniment, but only partially). The most important is a constant rhythm and intonation search, new shades of the image created on the spot.
The author-performer's voice is comparatively not strong, being rather for chamber audience; however, the good articulation, intonation expressiveness and mimicry compensated greatly what was missing. It was good that the performer started a direct dialogue with the audience, explained the performance, and asked for support. An important part of the performance was dancing, courtesy of the charming Rita Schraer. The audience also participated in the dance.
The greater part in organizing the concert, rehearsing, recording and mixing the music was done by the concertmaster and experienced musicologist Irina Stepanovna Kunitzina, whose work made the concert a success. Participation of the prominent violin player Mikhail Polyakov helped the performance immensely: his violin was singing and showing empathy.
No doubt, the concert in the "Hased" was a success. It would be nice to organize concerts by other soloists of our prominent "Mazl Tov" choir and its permanent director M.A.Gerberg.
