The International Forum of Rabbis began its work in Israel.

                  11.02.2003

The International Forum of Rabbis, organized by the Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel Meir Lau and the charitable organization "Keren Haesod", started its work in Israel. Thirty most authoritative rabbis of the world took part in the summit. Ukraine was also represented at the forum - the Chief rabbi of All-Ukrainian Jewish Congress Moshe-Reuven Asman was invited to participate in its work.
Before the beginning of summit thirty spiritual leaders of the Jewish people have made a joint pray and then participants of the forum digressed into religious and political questions.
Our correspondent managed to contact the Chief Rabbi of the All-Ukrainian Jewish Congress Moshe-Reuven Asman: "Yet it is difficult to speak about any decisions to be made at the forum. But anyway it is possible to state that real spiritual authorities of our generation, which by today had never gathered before, arrived to Israel. It should be mentioned, the congress takes place during anxious time for all Jews. But despite this, the outstanding rabbis have gathered in Israel to solve the questions which face all Jewish people".
