Krasnoyarsk: A court action against the vandals that profaned a synagogue.

                  04.03.2003

At the beginning of March, unidentified criminals profaned a synagogue. On the synagogue's wall, the vandals drew a black swastika and a David's shield with the word "Death" written across. The signature: "RNU"- the Russian National Unity.
The chairman of Krasnoyarsk Jewish religious organization commented on the incident. He thinks that those guilty will rather not be punished again. This is not the first time a temple is profaned in Krasnoyarsk; as a rule, the vandals are never identified nor caught.
A court action in connection with the profanation of the city's synagogue has been brought in Krasnoyarsk. Anti-Semitic inscriptions and the "Russian National Unity" abbreviation were found written on the wall. The representatives of the local Jewish community say that there are several large youth extremist bands in the city which, with the connivance of the city's administration, constantly profane monuments and cemeteries.
