"Children-SOS" children urgent help fund was organized in Dnipropetrovs'k.

A workshop for the parents of children with special needs was held in the "Tikva" club. The Workshop was organized by the Victoria Opalenko, the Head of the "Tikva" club; and Lyubov Chernova, a DISOR sociologist. The workshop was attended by A.Pleskachovskiy, the Hesed acting director; L.Mironovskiy, the acting director's deputy; L.Polekhin, a DISOR psychologist. The workshop's topic was "Social Aid".
Unfortunately, not all children grow up healthy, and it is not a secret that their parents have hard time taking care of them. The "Tikva" club is meant to help such parents spiritually and materially.
And how does the state take care of children with special needs? Natalia Sushkevich and Nina Mekhtieva, both specialists on subsidies who work with disabled at the city's department of labor and social security, told the audience about it. They spoke about the legislation allowing welfare assistance (the "State Welfare Assistance to the Disabled from Childhood and Disabled Children" law), about the rules of receiving and the order of drawing the subsidies; about different privileges and various amounts of cash benefits provided by the state. Unfortunately, this assistance is only UAH 5.00-10.00 and seems to be a mockery, but there is nothing more the state can do.
